Meet the Artisans
At Colorful Minds, we believe that our partnerships are far more valuable when we can interchangeably contribute to multiple causes. Our artisan groups that we support in this gift set provide work opportunities for hearing impaired individuals and artisans with disabilities in Iringa, Tanzania and support individuals with Down Syndrome. We celebrate Neema Crafts and Imperfect Creations.
James works at Neema Crafts and makes animal toys and cushions. James became hearing imparied before he was one year old and communication was always challenging. James loves making stuffed animals at Neema Crafts and says, “I pray to God that I will continue working here as I enjoy it so much and it is a place that makes me happy.” Faith-Christina is a talented young woman with Down Syndrome who loves making quilts, blankets, and many other beautiful handmade items. These blankets have now become a symbol of hope and inspiration to show that there is no limit to childrens’ possibilities.
Faith-Christina Duncan is strong, resilient and an advocate for all persons living with various disabilities. She was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth and lives by Helen Keller’s words: ” I am but one but I am one.” Faith makes a variety of beautiful products including quilts, ornaments, tablecloths, and home decor. Faith is on the AB honor roll at her school and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Faith creates impact on new parents by making baby blankets to put into the newborn baskets for parents of babies with Down Syndrome.These are given to them as a welcome gift by Down Syndrome of Central Florida.She wanted to make an impact on new parents. These blankets have now become a symbol of hope and inspiration and to assure them about their child and there is no limit to their child’s possibilities.
